Glad to be Home

I'm fired up to be back on the west coast. It's been a brutal trip. The weather was crappy back east and we've been getting our butts kicked. It's just been a crappy trip. We had to go to Milwaukee last week to play Cleveland. I've never heard of anything like that. It was snowing in Milwaukee too, a lot. I'm a Texas guy. I've never seen it come down like that. The Brewers organization treated us really well though. It was first class all the way and the fans there were incredible. There were a bunch of Cleveland fans there because it's not that far from Milwaukee, but it was awesome to see so many people show up just to watch pro baseball. There were 20,000 people there every day. It was like a Wisconsin Badgers football crowd. At one point they were doing the wave, first in slow motion then faster and then reversing it. Badger fans like their football and their drinking. It wasn't your normal baseball crowd, but it was great. Not sure I'll see anything like that again.

  I can't ever remember the last time there were so many PPD's b/c of the weather to start a season. There was talk of always opening the season in warm weather parks but I guess that becomes a disadvantage to certain teams. Either way I'm thrilled to see the MLB back full-steam ahead, Great start to the season John, but the Angels have gotta get those bats going and get you some runs.

  Just take a road trip to Florida to play the Marlins. Nothing like a football town hosting a baseball team.

  John....do you feel any pressure to live up to the mother of all pitchers blogs www.38pitches.com? Seriously though, do you read Curt's blog? and if so, do you look for any hints about how to face certain guys? Does his breakdown of the games he pitches ring true to you as a fellow pitcher?

    I've heard about Curt's blog, but I haven't read it yet. It sounds like he provides a lot of good information. I get most of my info from scouting meetings at the start of each series. They give us a report on each guy we're going to face. As a pitcher, it's important to know who's hot so you can really read up on them before facing them.

      It's a good read. I would be interested to hear your reactions to the way he breaks down his games. I'll also be interested to read your reactions after starts. This is insight and access that us fans have never had before and it's like a drug. I am addicted and I want more ;)

    Thanks. As players, we really aren't all that concerned with that kind of stuff. All I know is that it says Angels across the front of my uniform. That's all I care about.

        The subtle "M" is for Miami. No, wait... that's on the helmet the Dolphin is wearing in the Miami Dolphin's logo.

  Nice to be home indeed, sweep the Mariners, split with the AL Champs and win the 1st game of the short 2 game series vs. a very good, underrated D-Rays team.
  
  Nice pitching last night, John. Your battle vs. Upton really pumped me up. Way to get out of that jam. You were getting squeezed in that inning, though the UMP seem to give you a courtesy call on that outside curve to Upton.
